The 2018 Ford Expedition Will Be Pricier--But It Will Definitely Be Worth It

Industry buzz suggests that the new 2018 Ford Expedition--coming soon to the Fall River, Somerset MA, Newport RI, Westport MA, and Tiverton RI areas--will cost about $4,500 more than its predecessor.

And if that number hits you right in the gut, you're not alone; long-time Expedition drivers may realize the immediate benefits of 2018 model updates, but those who are new to this full-size SUVs capability may be a little turned off. We're here to tell you, with certainty, that the Expedition's upgrades and new performance are well worth the cost.

The retuned 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 will be available in two flavors: a 375-horsepower model and a whopping 400-horsepower model. The 2018 Expedition will be able to offer a 9,300-pound towing capacity, which Ford claims in best in class.

To help you lug those loads, the 2018 Expedition will offer Ford's intelligent new Pro Trailer Backup Assist system that's currently found on the F-Series trucks.

A Newer Lightweight Aluminum Body

One potential reason for the price hike is the 2018 Expedition's new aluminum-enhanced body, which makes the new Expedition nearly 300 pounds lighter, improves fuel efficiency, and provides a cleaner, smoother driving experience.

The 2018 Ford Expedition FX4

New for the 2018 model-year, Ford will offer a stunning new FX4 Off-Road Package for XLT models to improve capability and strength in specific Expedition models. It will come standard with the 375-horsepower, twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. XLT FX4 models boast a full-time selectable four-wheel drive.
